Videos that influence us- McFly 'That's The Truth'

Duresh

·      This music video is mainly based on performance and the main artist is playing an electric guitar that influenced us. We want to use the performance base and change it slightly by making it a solo instead of a band and making our artist play a guitar.
·      This video also contains the actor coming home to an empty house where his partner has left him. This also influenced us because ‘I’m still here’ is an emotional song and we want to use something like this. However, the only thing we want to change is that our main location will be the house where the artist starts off and end it there.
·      The male actor goes through his partners things which also influences us because we want to involve something like this is our music video. We want our to show the emotions of the song through her facial expressions.

  • This video uses two locations, one with one of the band members, Dougie, coming home to find his girlfriend has left. This is particularly interesting as the girlfriend leaving is implied through the shots of the room used such as the draws with clothes hanging out which suggests other clothes have been taken out of them, a shots of Dougie reading a note suggesting she left a note to tell him she has gone, and broken  picture frames. This could be something we could use in our video, as we want to imply that the relationship is not working and her boyfriend has gone.
  • The other location used is a warehouse, where the band perform. The use of bright lighting in this location is a complete contrast to the dark lighting used in the bedroom. This could be something we could incorporate into our music video, as we want to shoot a performance element outside. We could shoot during the day to create a brighter atmosphere and shoot the inside scenes in a darker light.

At the beginning of the music video there is a instrumental which shows the narrative of the song and music video which can set the overall tone.

This music video shows the typical conventions of a breakup song - performance in empty place, person thinking about the relationship, smashing things out of anger.

At the end of the music video where the guy looks at the bed with the two pillows can suggest that he misses his ex and that they should be together as there are two pillows on the bed.

Overall this song is quite upbeat which is a juxtaposition to the music video as the narrative is quite lonely and upset.
