Overall Reaction to the Music Video

Today we finished the video. We converted the video to a Quicktime file and it will be uploaded to YouTube. Overall I am happy with the finished product. I feel the shots with the candles in particular have turned out really well and are interesting to watch.
I do feel that the music video would have been improved had we included a bit more narrative, maybe bringing in another character.

Audience Feedback

Audience feedback overall was very positive. They liked the candle scene in particular and felt that the shots worked really well. They also thought that the performance was good.
They felt that the lip-sync could be improved in places, in the first half of the first verse and again towards the end.
We have taken these critcisms into account and I we have gone back and fixed the lip-sync.

My Roles & Overall Opinion Of The Video

For this music video my roles have been in charge of filming, contacting the artist, creating the storyboard and anamatic aswell as help Dureshewar with the editing. In my opinion, my favourite role that i've done throughout this project is filming the shots because i have developed my camera skills and learnt which shots work well and help create a relationship between the visuals and the lyrics/camera movement. I don't think creating the story board was my strongest role as it helps if the sketches are clear to help the filming run smoothly. As i am not the nbest at drawing, i had to annotate the sketches to help the group understand the type of shot and the mise-en-scene within that frame. As we used final cut to edit our video, i felt that it was my turn to edit some parts so everyone in the group felt as if they have contributed. However, in our preliminary task as well as our AS coursework we used iMovie, so there was a difference in what we could do to create our music video. When i started out using Final Cut i felt a bit on edge but the more and more i was using it, my confidence began to develop and now i prefer it to iMovie as there are so much more effects that we can use to produce a music video that can look professional.

Reference from Music Videos

We needed a cut-away shot to finish our music video. Sarah came up with the idea to use the idea from Marcus Collins' 'Seven Nation Army' about having people click their fingers in the shot. We all agreed that it would look well as it would be cut on the beat of our song.
0:5-06, 24, 49-52, These clicking shots appear in the beginning of the first minute of the music video at 0:05, 0:24 and 0:49-0:52

Todays Editing 27/02/2012

Becky: Today both Sarah & I watched our music video of what was done so far and we realized we need to add in more cutaways or non-singing shots so there isn't a whole block of the same shots as for us it doesn't feel like a music video so far. However, the shots so far that are edited completely are brilliant the lip-syncing is spot on which is one of the issues we had with our preliminary task.
We chose to add in more candle shots as those shots in our opinion, are the best performance shot and we need a more performance based sequence rather than shots of our artist being in many different locations.

Sarah: We worked for 3 hours straight to complete the editing for showing the class next lesson. I am pleased with the video and what we have edited. We changed a lot and rearranged the footage. There is still some work that needs to be done on the video but for a rough draft I a really happy with it and we can use next week to modify our video based on the feedback we get and make sure the lip-sync is perfect and colour correct all the shots.

Album cover

We was told that we need to create an album cover as well as an artist website. Album needs to be done individually and I have ideas for that, the scene where Tia is sitting and she is surrounded by candles.
Here are some ideas that could be used for the album cover:

Creating Social Network Accounts For 'Tia'

Within the last 8 years artists have been able to communicate with their fans through social network sites such as facebook and myspace for example. However, the newest social network site which is a more direct platform for artists as well as other celebrities to communicate with their fans is Twitter. Twitter is a social network where they can post something and within seconds fans are able to reply and have a chance of the celebrity replying to them. This can make the fans feel more connected to their idol and feel as if they are apart of the celebrities lifes.
We decided to create social network pages for Tia as it will connect her to her fans and as social networks are very popular and the internet is where the younger generation find out things, it will allow her to create 'word of mouth' for her music.
Her Twitter account is : @OfficialTia12
Her YouTube account is :OfficialTiaUK
